FEATUREVectis AutoID

Every trip. Every driver. Automatically.

Vectis AutoID recognises which driver is in which company vehicle the moment they get in. No logins, no forms, no forgotten trips. Attribution becomes a property of the system, not a chore for the driver.

The problem

Unattributed trips cost you

INSURANCE

“Who was driving?”

Weeks after an incident, an answer reconstructed from memory is not evidence.

COMPLIANCE

Gaps in the record

Every trip without a name is a hole in your FBT logbook and your health and safety records.

ADMIN TIME

Chasing drivers

Someone spends Monday emailing staff to ask who had the Hilux on Tuesday.

01Why AutoID

Driver records shouldn't depend on drivers remembering

Every trip has a name against it. That means less admin, stronger compliance and a better position with your insurer.

Less admin

  • No login step. The driver gets in, the vehicle is recognised, and they do nothing else.
  • No more chasing. Logbooks, trips and driving behaviour link to the right person without anyone keying it in.
  • “Who had it?” in seconds. Pick a vehicle and a time to answer infringement and toll questions, not days of emails.
  • Follows the person, not the booking. Hand the keys to a colleague and AutoID records who is actually in the car.

Stronger compliance

  • Closes the unattributed-trip gap. Manual logins fail when drivers forget and when some avoid it. AutoID removes both.
  • FBT logbooks start with who drove. Business and private classification is built on trips that are attributed in the first place.
  • A reliable health and safety record. Who drove what and when, with optional passenger records for incident reviews.
  • A full audit trail. Every driver period records when it started, when it ended and how the driver was identified.

Insurance and incident confidence

  • The answer is on record. When an insurer asks who was driving, you don't reconstruct it weeks later.
  • Events carry a name. Crash and harsh-driving events from telematics are attributed to the driver on record at that moment.
  • “Who else was in the vehicle?” Optional passenger records answer the follow-up question too.
  • Better evidence, cleaner claims and a stronger risk profile
02How it works

Get in. Drive. It's already logged.

A beacon in each vehicle

A small Bluetooth beacon is fitted out of sight in each vehicle. It runs for years on its own battery.

The driver's app recognises it

The Vectis app on the driver's phone recognises the beacon once they're inside the vehicle. Walking past in the car park doesn't count.

The trip is attributed

The driver session starts automatically, and it closes when they leave the vehicle. Nobody touched a screen.

03Multiple signals, one answer

The strongest available signal wins

AutoID sits inside a layered system. Every trip is attributed from the best evidence on hand, and the record shows which signal it came from.

IN THE VEHICLE VS AT THE WHEEL

A beacon shows who is in the vehicle. A driver's own confirmation, including a one-tap confirm on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, settles who is at the wheel.

When two app users share a car, the second person is recorded as a passenger, so the driver record never flip-flops between them.

  1. 1
    Driver confirmation

“I'm driving” in the app, or a one-tap confirm when the phone connects to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

    STRONGEST
  2. 2
    AutoID beacon detection

Automatic, from the driver's phone being inside the vehicle.

  3. 3
    Vehicle check-out

Who collected the vehicle at handover.

  4. 4
    Booking owner

The baseline when no stronger signal is present.

    FALLBACK
04Reports and tools

See coverage. Prove it. Answer questions in seconds.

Driver Coverage shows where gaps remain, so you can prove coverage rather than assume it.

Infringement and toll questions answered with how the driver was identified.

When the booking names one person and the people in the car say otherwise, the record follows the people in the car.

Every logbook journey arrives with a driver already against it, ready to classify.

Illustrative data.

05Privacy by design

Records which vehicle and when. Never where.

AutoID doesn't add surveillance. It makes an obligation you already have reliable.

  • No location from the phone

Beacon detection sends no GPS coordinates. Trip routes come from the vehicle's own telematics, a separate feature.

  • Only near company vehicles

Away from the fleet, AutoID does nothing at all.

  • Transparent to passengers

Anyone recorded as a passenger can see it in their app, along with who was recorded as driving.

06Hardware

One small beacon. Fitted in minutes. Forgotten for years.

  • Small and discreet

Sits out of sight inside the vehicle.

  • Years of battery life

Runs on its own battery, with nothing drawn from the vehicle.

  • Installs in minutes, no wiring

No auto-electrician, no downtime for the vehicle.

  • Works with the app drivers already have

The Vectis app on iOS and Android. Nothing else to install.

Questions buyers ask

Do drivers have to do anything?

No. They install the Vectis app once. After that, getting into the vehicle is enough.

Does it track my staff's location?

No. AutoID records which vehicle and when, not where. Trip routes come from the vehicle's own telematics, which is a separate feature.

Can a passenger be mistaken for the driver?

A driver's confirmation always outranks the beacon, and a second person in the car is recorded as a passenger.

What if a driver switches it off?

Other signals, vehicle check-out and the booking, still apply. The Driver Coverage report shows where gaps remain.

What hardware is needed?

One small Bluetooth beacon per vehicle, and the Vectis app on drivers' phones (iOS and Android).

Does it work with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes. Connecting to CarPlay or Android Auto gives the driver a one-tap confirmation.
