Troubleshooting the AI Connector

Common AI Connector problems, what causes them, and what to do.

The AI app doesn't show a Vectis tool I expect

Your Vectis role doesn't have the matching permission, or you didn't tick that permission when you connected. Check what your role can see in Vectis. If you need a permission you declined, disconnect and reconnect the app to see the consent screen again.

"Your organisation's plan doesn't include the AI Connector"

Your plan doesn't include the connector. Ask your Vectis account owner to check your plan.

"An administrator has turned off the Vectis AI Connector for your organisation"

An administrator switched off Enable AI Connector. Ask them to switch it back on at Settings → AI Connector. Existing connections resume, and nobody needs to reconnect.

"Your organisation keeps its data in Australia. An administrator must accept the AI Connector data notice…"

Your organisation uses Australian data residency and nobody has accepted the data notice yet. An administrator needs to turn the connector on and tick I understand in the data residency notice. See Administrator controls.

Either the AI app can't ask you to confirm (Copilot Studio, for example), or the change is destructive, which always needs a link. Open the link to apply or reject the change in Vectis. See Approving changes.

The app isn't on your organisation's allowed platform list, or it's unverified and unverified apps aren't allowed. An administrator can add the platform, or turn on Allow unverified AI apps, at Settings → AI Connector, but only if they trust the app.

Signing in keeps returning to the sign-in page

Connecting needs an active Vectis session. If your single sign-on session expired part-way through, you are sent to sign in again before returning to the consent screen. Sign in again. If it keeps happening, check your organisation's single sign-on setup, or try a normal (not private) browser window.

An AI app I disconnected can still do things

It shouldn't: its next call should fail and ask you to reconnect. Check you disconnected the right entry under Profile → Connected AI apps, or ask an administrator to check Settings → AI Connector → Connected AI apps. If it still works after that, report it to Vectis support as a bug.

"insufficient_scope", or the AI app asks to reconnect mid-conversation

The tool you asked for needs a permission, such as a change permission, that wasn't granted when you connected. Reconnect and tick the extra permission. If it's a change permission, an administrator must first turn on Allow AI apps to propose changes.

"Try again" or rate-limit errors during heavy use

Vectis limits how many calls a person or an AI app can make each minute. Wait a moment and try again. If it happens constantly, an administrator can check Usage (last 30 days) at Settings → AI Connector to see whether the app is calling more often than expected.
