Setting up geofences

Draw zones on the map and get alerts when vehicles enter or leave them.

What are geofences?

Geofences are boundaries you draw on the map. Vectis alerts you when vehicles enter or leave them. Your active geofences are also shown on the Live Tracking map.

Creating a geofence

  1. Open Geofences

    Go to Telematics → Geofences.

  2. Add a geofence

    Select Add Geofence.

  3. Draw the boundary

Choose a Shape, Polygon or Circle. For a polygon, click on the map to place each corner. For a circle, click and drag. To start again, select Clear and redraw.

  4. Describe it

Give it a Name, and optionally a Description, a Category and a colour.

  5. Choose alerts

Under Alert Triggers, tick Alert on entry, Alert on exit, or both. You can also set a Speed Limit (km/h): a vehicle going faster than this inside the zone triggers an alert.

Categories

Categories help you sort geofences and set their default colour on the map: Depot, Client Site, Restricted Area, Parking, Service Centre, Business Zone, Private Zone, Home Zone, Off-road (RUC refund), Private road (RUC refund) and Custom.

Managing geofences

The Geofences page lists your zones. Filter by category or status (Active or Inactive), or open a geofence to change its shape or settings.
